Brief Description
Coloured lithograph; cream background for a colour picture of a full length, 3/4 profile of a man. He holds a red cricket ball at waist height in his left hand. His right hand is slightly bent and his right foot is in front of his left. He wears a black top hat and bow tie, red suspenders, white shirt and pants and black shoes. Title centre below image reads "WILLIAM LILLYWHITE. / BORN JUNE 13th 1792 / as he appeared at Lord's Ground on July 25.th 1853/ in the/ Grand Match for his Benefit played between Sussex (with G. Parr) and England." Printed immediately below image l.l. 'John Corbet Anderson del et lith."; printed centre immediately below image "Published by F. Lillywhite & Wisden, 2 New Coventry St., Leicester Sq. London"; printed l.r. below image "Printed by R. Black". Below title, centre printed "This Plate is respectfully Presented to the Subscribers".
