Brief Description
Lithograph, coloured ink on off-white paper, of a man in beige pants, white shirt, top hat and and black bow-tie. He poses with a bat in front of a wicket, in a very upright batting stance. In the background is a wall, with a house and trees behind it. Printed underneath image is text, "MARTINGELL. / born 20th August 1818 at Nutfield in Surrey." Under image at lower left is further text, "Sketches at Lords, No. 5"; lower right, "John C. Anderson del et hth"; under title in centre, "London Published by John Corbet Anderson, [with address] March 1st 1852 and by F. Lillywhite [with address]".
