Brief Description
Reproduction print of a painting by John Ritchie that shows a pastoral view including a cricket match, with spectators and passers-by in the foreground. The right side of the work is a genre scene which features people walking along a tree-lined avenue, and spectators watching the cricket match, including three men scoring around a table. To the left, the cricketers wear an assortment of clothes, and the bowler can be seen delivering the ball underarm. Beyond is a landscape with low hills, fields and a church. Lower left inscription reads, "John Ritchie" 1855, and verso in pencil, "A / [unintelligible] R/ [unintelligible]".
