Brief Description
Satirical print showing a man in black clothes and tricorn hat, with very long sideburns, using a mace surmounted by a crown as a cricket bat. A large ball with a crown on it has just knocked over the wicket. Two men in top hats stand on the left, with a portly figure in the centre wearing a bowler hat saying "Regularly bowled out by George". Drawing is entitled "STATE CRICKET MATCH." Initials "HVB" l.l.c. of print are pseudonym for artist John Doyle. Print l.l. under image reads "Published by T. McLean 26, Haymarket, Decr. 6th 1834." Printed under image l.r.c., "Ducote & Stephen's Lithogr, 70 St. Martins Lane". Below the figures is handwritten "Wm IV", "Wellington", Brougham". In the border immediately above the image u.r.c. "HB Sketches No. 357".
