Brief Description
Drawing, black ink on off-white paper. Shows 5 men with speechbubbles gathered around a central figure holding a cloth to his face. The dialogue explains that the central man was hit by something, possibly the rubble at his feet, which reads "Act/ of/ Indemnity". A man in the back RH corner says "I think I have spoiled/ their play- at least/ for a time." Drawing is entitled "A ROW IN THE PLAY-GROUND." Initials "HB" written l.l.c. image and in pencil l.r.c. of print. 'HB' is pseudonym for the artist John Doyle. Printed under image l.l. reads "Published by T. McLean 26, Haymarket, 3rd Decr. 1838.". Printed l.r. under image "A. Ducote's Lithogr. 70 St. Martins". Printed in the border u.r.c., "HB Sketches No. 563".
