Brief Description
Lithographic print of an engraving by Jules Payran of a painting by Joseph Wright, depicting two young boys in 18th century dress in a forest setting with cricket equipment. The boy at left in light green rests his right hand against the top of a curved cricket bat; the boy at right kneels on the ground and is placing the 'bail' (a chiselled stick) on top of two 'stumps', between which is a large ball. Signed in pencil 'J. PAYRAN' at lower right of image; Printsellers Association stamp l.l. with centre 'RHD'. Printed above the image "London, Published 1912 by Henry Graves & Co. Ltd., 6 Pall Mall, S W - Printed in Paris by Moglia & Co" .Cream window mount in black and gold painted wood frame. Short text panel attached to back of work; framers label and white security[?] label 'M51060/MS1061'.
