Brief Description
Poster on discoloured cream sheet with bold printed text and oval image depicting scene of a cricket match in play. Text reads, in part, "CRICKET. / A GRAND MATCH OF / CRICKET / WILL BE PLAYED ON / Dartford Brent, / On MONDAY, AUGUST the 6th, 1832, / AND FOLLOWING DAYS, / BETWEEN THE GENTLEMEN / OF / The Leeds Club, WITH FULLER PILCH (GIVEN), AND THE GENTLEMEN OF / The Dartford Club with E. Wenman, Cobbett and Lillywhite (Given) for Twenty-Two Sovereigns". The poster then lists the names of players for each team. The printer's details at lower edge read, "PRINTED BY R.J. CUTBUSH, WEEK-STREET, MAIDSTONE.". Originally in a black and gold wood frame, label affixed verso reads, "Parker Gallery, London"; and upper corner, "Anthony Baer Collection 1962 / No. 156 / Anthony Baer"; & "3006".
