Brief Description
Large, monochrome lithograph of a cricket match, mounted on a wooden backing board. The item is a reproduction of a painting and features portraits of players from the 1906 Kent County Cricket Club team, whose names are printed below the image(from left; E.Humphreys, E.W.Dillon,ESQ., W.Findlay,ESQ., A.J.Atfield.(umpire),C.Blythe, J.T.Tyldesley, R.N.R.Blaker, ESQ., F.H.Huish, K.L.Hutchings, ESQ., C.H.B.Marsham,ESQ.(captain), A.Fielder, J.R.Mason, ESQ., C.J.Burnup,ESQ., J.Seymour.) The setting is the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, and the viewpoint is from behind the wicket keeper, with a bowler approaching the crease to bowl a delivery. In the background is a pavilion full of spectators, and in the distance, a church tower. The print is titled, "THE KENT ELEVEN, CHAMPIONS, 1906". Text on the bottom left hand corner of the image reads, "A.Chevallier Tayler, R.B.A. Pinxt". Text on the bottom right hand corner of the image reads, "Swan Electric Engraving Co.Ltd.Sculpt".
