Brief Description
Chromolithograph depicting four children playing in a field. The boy on the left is holding a curved cricket bat aloft and the boy next to him is bowling using an underarm action. The two girls are collecting small objects to be used as balls. The image is contained in an oval-shaped window, with the names of the artist l.l. below the image 'Mrs Trewineau delin.' and l.r. below the image 'T.B. Freeman execudit'. The title is centred below the image, reads, "CRICKET PLAYING", printed beneath title in smaller text, "London, Published Jany 1788, by T.B. Freeman, No. 22 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden". The print is housed in a cream-coloured window mount and a black and gold wood frame. On the back is a label from the Parker Gallery, London, and a piece of brown paper is attached with the inscription, "ANTHONY BAER COLLECTION 1962 NO. 44 [signature] Anthony Baer".
