Brief Description
Hand coloured etching of Shrewsbury New School, showing the main school building in the centre and the chapel to the left. In the foreground is a large area of lawn. Two boys carrying cricket bats are walking along a path in the centre. The image is surrounded by a plain border. Above the print are details of the publisher: 'London, Published Jan. 3rd 1893 by Messrs. Dickinson & Foster, Publishers to The Queen, 114 New Bond Street W. Copyright Registered'. The artist's name is l.r. in the image 'F.P. Barraud'. Below the image, handwritten in pencil are the following: l.l. 'F.P. Barraud'; in the centre "Shrewsbury" and l.r. 'William J. Allingham". Print Sellers Association stamp l.l. below the image with 'JX' stamped centre. The print is housed in a modern window mount with green trim and marbled border. Handwritten verso in pencil "Shrewsbury New School".
