Brief Description
Colour etching of a cricket match at Tonbridge School in Kent. In the foreground are a number of students wearing whites and blazers, and masters wearing suits and blazers with top hats and boaters. The match is taking place on a playing field in front of the main school building. Spectators are lined up along the opposite side of the oval. Beyond the school are trees and in the distance, the town of Tonbridge. The image is surrounded by a plain border with the publisher's details printed above, and the names of the draughtsman and etcher below, along with a caption that reads "Tonbridge - 'View from the Cricket Field'" and signature l.l. 'A. Tallberg Sc'. Immediately below the image l.l. 'Painted by F.P. Barraud'; l.r. 'Etched by A. Tallberg'. Above the image in centre 'London Published 11 Jan 1893 Messrs Dickinson and Foster Publishers to the Queen 114 New Bond Street W. Copyright Registered'. The print is housed in a modern window mount of white card. Etching originally in a wooden frame.
