Object Detail
Brief Description
Hand-coloured print of a village cricket match, showing two fielders, two umpires, a bowler, wicket keeper and two batsmen. The print gives a side-on view of the wicket during a passage of play, with the batsmen outstretched as they take a run, and a fielder retrieves the ball. Spectators watch from the boundary, where a red striped marquee stands. Beyond the cricket field are trees, houses and a church, and low hills in the distance. Below the image is a printed inscription that reads, "R. de Los Rios d'apres Fesch", and to the left is printed a small image of a boat with two masts; this has the title of the image written below the boat.
