Brief Description
Chromolithograph, full-length caricature portrait of George J. Bonnor (cricketer) as "Australian Cricket", against a pale, blank background, with grass and shadows at his feet. Bonnor stands side-on to the viewer, his hands resting against the back of his hips, his legs body-width apart, and he has a look of concentration. He wears a white shirt with sleeves rolled up; white pants; two-toned shoes; and a blue peaked cap with an unidentified emblem at front. The pseudonym of the artist Carlo "APE" Pellegrini is printed at lower right of the image; Bonnor's signature, written as GEORGE J. BONNOR, is reproduced below the border of the image, above an inscription in typed print reading "AUSTRALIAN CRICKET", lower left is the lithographer 'Vincent Brooks, Day & Son'. Inscription above the image at top left reads VANITY FAIR and above right, the date SEPTR. 13 1884. White window mount, brown and gold moulded wood frame. Item has verso framer's label 'The Picture Factory' and "M6209" crossed out on reverse.
