The pseudonym of the artist Leslie "SPY" Ward is printed diagonally at lower left of the image, opposite which is reproduced Harris' signature. Inscription printed below the border of the image reads "KENT" and lower left "Vincent Brooks, Day & Son Lith.'. Inscription above the image at top left reads VANITY FAIR and above right, the date JULY 16 1881. A small depiction of a crown in black also appears at top right of the image.
