Brief Description
Colour lithograph portrait of nineteenth-century wicket keeper Thomas Box. The portrait shows a man standing in front of a set of stumps, wearing cricket whites, neckerchief, short pads, top hat and putting on a pair of gloves. In the background is a tent and low hill with windmill. Below the image is printed "Sketches at Lords No.9 / John C Anderson del et lith / BOX / Born at Ardingley Sufsex, 1809 Height 5ft 7in. / London. Published by John Corbet Anderson 40 Church Road de Beauvoir Square Kingsland, March 1st 1852 / and by F Lillywhite, 10 Princes Terrace, Caledonian Road, Islington." The print is mounted behind white card.
