Brief Description
Monochrome lithograph of a cricket match between Kent and the All England XI, played at Canterbury in August 1845. The playing field is seen from a slightly elevated angle, and in the foreground are a large number of spectators wearing an assortment of clothing. To the left and right sides are figures on horseback with carriages, and three figures are wearing military attire. The wicket is seen from a side-on angle, and the cricketers are wearing top hats. More spectators line the boundary on the opposite side of the oval, beyond which are some houses and low hills. Below the image are printed the names of the draughtsman and publisher and a long dedicatory inscription. The print is housed in a modern window mount. Handwritten inscription on verso, "J. A. Mar--- Esq".
