Brief Description
Chromolithograph of a group of cricketers, subtitled "THE ELEVEN OF ENGLAND / SELECTED TO CONTEND IN / THE GREAT CRICKET MATCHES OF THE NORTH / FOR THE YEAR 1847". Published Nov 20th 1847 by Baily Brothers, No. 3 Royal Exchange Buldings, Cornhill. The figures are standing in a row, all facing in different directions, and wearing the customary dress of mid-nineteenth century cricketers: boots, trousers, shirts, neckties and top hats. The portrait is set outdoors with a simple background. Thin parallel lines frame the image, underneath which are printed details of the producers, names of those depicted, and the title of the work. The print is loosely mounted behind white card. reg number inscribed bottom left/right reverse. VCCCM number and label bottom left reverse
