Brief Description
Black and white lithograph depicting a cricket game in progress. The men are wearing white, with form-fitting trousers and short jackets, topped with black top hats. The bowler has just bowled underarm and the batsman is playing with a straight bat and stumps with three uprights. A title underneath reads "VACATION AMUSEMENTS. [No. 3.] / CRICKET. (A long Innings.)" Printed above the image t.r.c., "HB. Sketches. No. 653.". The picture is signed l.l. in image "HB" [artist John HB Doyle]. Printed l.l. below the image "Published Oct.r 5th 1840 by Tho.s McLean, 26, Haymarket"; and printed l.r. below the image "A. Ducote's Lithog.y. 70 St Martin's Lane".
