Brief Description
Black print on white paper. The main scene is within a wide oval border, depicting a cricket match in progress on an expanse of grass, with a tent in the background and two flags on poles: a Union Jack and one with three vertical stripes (most probably the French flag). The title is below the image contained in the border "PARIS / CRICKET CLUB". Surrounding this picture is a rectangular border with elements including foliage designs, bats, balls and stumps, at the top centre edge two cricketers either side of a circle with man's face and "NOTTINGHAM". In the border l.l. "H. Linton" and l.r. "Morin". Originally in a black and gold wood frame with the following verso: "Anthony Baer Collection 1962/no. 458 [signed] Anthony Baer". "E. Morin, Le Jeu de Cricket (1864) " Grand march dispute' Au Bois de Boulogne entre / Les Joueurs Francais et Anglais. Grave Par H. Linton" (printed twice).
