Brief Description
Silver cup/goblet. Conical bowl, chased, knopped stem, circular base. Bowl is engraved with repeated floral designs which expose three bare surfaces between them, and upon which, three sets of inscriptions have been engraved. On the face featuring the maker's mark, is the inscription: 'PRESENTED/BY THE/SUBSCRIBERS TO THE BANQUET/GIVEN TO THE/Australian Cricketers/AT WILLIS'S ROOMS ON THE/ 23rd July 1878/HIS GRACE THE/Duke of Manchester, KP./IN THE CHAIR'. The next face features a list of the Australian touring team, and the last face has engraved 'F.E.Allan.'. Francis Erskine Allan was a member of the Australian team. Made by Roberts & Belk, of Sheffield, England.
