Brief Description
Large silver-coloured tray, rectangular shaped with rounded corners and upturned ends. In the middle of the tray is a raised circular section with slight waist, in the middle of which is a gold-coloured medallion which reads THE CENTENARY OF ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA / 1877 / 1977. It also has a picture of a kangaroo and a lion holding a cup, and around the medallion is a border of wickets. There are engravings on the tray itself of the English and Australian coats of arms and some text indicating this was given to the Melbourne Cricket Club by the Marylebone Cricket Club - "To commemorate the centenary of England v Australia/ Presented to Melbourne Cricket Club by Marylebone Cricket Club March 1977". On base hallmarks, designer & maker details: Silversmith designer is A.G. (Alex) Styles and maker is Garrard & Co. Ltd. 112 Regent Street, London W.I.
