Small oil painting housed in a shallow hinged box. The painting depicts a boy wearing a navy coat with many buttons and a white ruffled collar. He stands in a garden in front of a column and flowers with a cricket bat over his shoulder. Written on the back of the painting is "Joseph Banks Wright / painted by his mother / Sophia Wright / 1817". On top of the painting is a gold-coloured metal frame, and both sit in a velvet-lined box with leather covering which is hinged and snaps shut. Sticker on back of leather case "523" handwritten in blue biro.
