Brief Description
Watercolour by Charles Ambrose titled, 'W. G. Grace goes a-beagling/Drawn from life/at Tadworth/9/2/07'. Features a bearded man dressed in a long coat and cap standing side-on and carrying an umbrella in his left hand and a walking stick in his right. The artist name is printed on the lower right edge. Below is the title text. Reverse side provides more information written in ink and dated 8/5/1935: "W.G. goes a-Beagling / the 'Old Man' drawn from life on Tadworth Railway Station platform in 1909. / He had been beagling & explained that he carried a walking stick to help him along, and an umbrella in case it rained !. / This sketch was published as frontispiece to C.B. Frys magazine. / 8/5/35". Various other pencil notations verso.
