Brief Description
Colour painting of a gentleman in cricket whites, pads, and gloves, standing at the crease in batting stance. In the background are a white screen to the left, and a two-storey house to the right. Small sign affixed to lower edge of frame reads, "SIR JACK HOBBS./ LESLIE A. WILCOX, R.I.". Frame is gold-painted wood. Handwritten on reverse of frame, left edge in black pen "ANTHONY BAER COLLECTION NO 20 - I COMMISSIONED THIS 1964". Written in chalk on back of canvas "590/3"' ; attached to top of frame white label with "7" in black pen; security label lower section of frame pencilled "MS1173" [or] M51173".
