Brief Description
Oil painting of a gentleman in cricket whites and pads, with long legs, wearing a blue cap with a little white horse on the front. He swings a bat over his right shoulder, standing in front of a wicket, on a cricket ground. The work has been signed, "A. SWANTON / 1969", in the lower RH corner. Deep gold and grey-painted wooden frame, with grey and white-painted recess. Verso label reads, "MS1170 / M51170".

Ann Swanton was the wife of noted English cricket journalist, E.W. "Jim" Swanton. This painting was bought by Sir Robert Menzies in Sandwich, England,, and he then donated it to the M.C.C.
