Brief Description
Large wooden-framed oil on canvas portrait painting of Mr. James Dean (cricketer) dressed in cricket whites, light-blue neckerchief, green peaked cap and black shoes, holding a cricket ball. He stands in a garden in front of a brick wall and small trees, with a blue sky and some clouds beyond. Solid wooden frame with gold recess. Labelling on reverse reads W. BROMLEY / 26 PORTRAIT OF JAMES DEAN, THE WELL-KNOWN SUSSEX BOWLER, / IN A GARDEN HOLDING A BALL. Hand-written labels give a cricketing biography of James Dean and the source of the information; also white label handwritten "20" in black pen.
