Brief Description
Colour oil painting depicting rows of white tents in front of a large mansion with the ocean in the background. Soldiers dressed in red uniforms are visible. A cricket game is being played in the foreground. Inscription on a plaque attached to the frame reads 'THE SUSSEX REGIMENT/AT SEAFORD 1850'. Surrounded by a wide, ornate bronze coloured frame. Verso an exhibition label is only partially visible having been covered by tape; details recorded on M6562 September 1986 worksheet as follows: "Exhibited at Graves Art Gallery Sheffield, July 1955; exhibition "Two Centuries of Cricket Art", lent by Mr. J.W. Goldman". Also verso white security label "M51168" or [MS1168].
