Inscription typed in black ink on a piece of paper affixed to verso reads 'SULTAN'S VALLEY, BOSPHORUS ASIATIC SIDE, / H.M.S. RETRIBUTION - OFFICERS PLAYING / CRICKET. / JUNE 30TH, 1853.'
