Framed watercolour full-length portrait of a young, red-headed man in black suit, white shirt, black bow-tie and black shoes, holding cricket bat against right hip, left hand at his side. Blank background. Off-white window mount; wooden frame with bronze-coloured recess. Strip of paper affixed to reverse bears hand-written inscription: THOMAS SCARBOROUGH JOHNSON / PAINTED SOON AFTER HIS BROTHER'S DEATH / WHEN HE WAS ABOUT 12 YEARS OF AGE.
