Brief Description
Watercolour painting of a gentleman wearing a black jacket, grey vest and white shirt with high collar, salmon-coloured pants and pointed black shoes. He is holding a top hat in his left hand and is leaning against a cricket bat in his right hand. Inscription on the left side of the image reads, "DRAWN BY A BURT. / BURY 1835". Surrounded by a cream coloured windowmount and a black and gold coloured wooden frame. Several labels verso which include title label "Charles Boyd/A.K. Burt, R.A. 1835"; exhibition label "Two Centuries of Cricket Art", Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield, July 1955; framer's label; and handwritten notation "Anthony Baer Collection no.52 1962/ (signed) Anthony Baer".
