Object Detail

Brief Description
Watercolour painting of cricket being played in a grassy quadrangle surrounded by buildings. An inscription on a small piece of card affixed to the mount beneath the image identifies the location as 'READING SCHOOL.' A large tree frames the image at left, under which figures are seated on a bench, and beyond which large houses and a church tower can be seen. The field is divided into separate areas by pathways, at the centre is the main cricket game. Spectators watch from around the edge of the field, and a tent can be seen at right. The painting is housed in a cream window mount, with a black and gold painted wooden frame.
