These clothes are said to be the uniform of Christ's Hospital, known as the 'Bluecoat School', which is located near Horsham in Sussex. The artist has signed and dated the painting in the lower-left "E.Ertz, 1913". The painting is on off-white paper and mounted behind brown-grey card. Verso artwork handwritten in ink "Portrait of/ Eugene Horsfall Ertz/ Lamb A. Christ's Hospital / Edward Ertz R.B.A /Pulborough/Sussex"
