Brief Description
Watercolour painting of Littlehampton in west Sussex, c.1800, mounted and framed. The composition shows a panoramic landscape with (from left to right) a group of whitewashed houses, a harbour indicated by the masts of boats behind the houses, a windmill, large four and five-storey tenements, cricket being played on a common, a group of children in the foreground including one riding on a pony, more buildings and a walled area, and a small glimpse of the sea with boats. KLabel below the artwork reads: Cricket at Littlehampton, Sussex / J. Clint c.1800". Labels on the reverse identify the artist as J. Clint; framer and hanging instructions .
