Brief Description
Watercolour painting of a cricket match at Lord's between players in red and blue shirts. The ground is surrounded by spectators, men and women standing and sitting, some on horses and in carts. A building with a large Union Flag flying from it is on the far side of the ground, and red flags with the acronym MCC are posted around the ground. The second Lord's pavilion (1825-1889) is on the right of the picture. The artist's signature and date, "N.E. GREEN / 55" are painted at bottom right. An inscription in ink on the mount below the image reads, "LORD'S / N.E. GREEN 1855". Written in black ink on reverse is text, "ANTHONY BAER / COLLECTION 1962 / NO. 84". Also verso a white label with "145" in black ; the number "36" both in pen and on a label. Off-white window mount on which is painted three levels of borders, all framed in a gold-painted wooden frame.
