Brief Description
Watercolour painting depicting a cricket match being played in front of a castle. Tall trees to either side, figures can be seen standing on the ground, some spectators standing and sitting. A white tent sits to the right, and flagpoles are near the spectators. Cream windowmount and black and gold wooden frame. Card with inscription is affixed to reverse, "LOWTHER CASTLE / HOUSE CRICKET MATCH / WILLIAM LUTHER". A handwritten label, also attached to reverse, reads, "A. Baer/ Collection/ no. 612/ (signed) A. Baer"; there is also a framer's label verso.
