Brief Description
Completed scorecard for a match between Hampshire and England played in 1777. The information is printed in black ink on thinly-woven cloth. The title reads "A LIST OF THE / Gentlemen Cricketers / WHO PLAYED / On Sevenoaks Vine, June 20, 1777, / FOR ONE THOUSAND GUINEAS, / Hampshire, with the Right Hon. Earl Tankerville, against / all England!" Hampshire won the match by an innings and 168 runs, with Hampshire's Aylward scoring 167. [Probably Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville 1743-1822; in 1774 part of committee formulated early laws of cricket].
