Brief Description
Off white linen handkerchief with selvedge left and right edges and hemmed upper and lower edges. The image on the front is printed in dark purple / aubergine ink and shows a cricket match in progress with 13 players, two umpires and two spectators. Ground and foliage features in the foreground and background, with sky above. The image is framed by the laws of cricket, which are printed in blocks. The title at the top of the handkerchief, within a decorative oval frame comprising foliage and cricket bats, reads, "THE / Laws of the Game of / Cricket". Embroidered in the upper left corner, in red thread, is a date, "FEB 15 / 1769".
