Brief Description
Wooden frame with metal wheels - some original parts of the model of the Wicket Cover invented by S.C. and S.R.S. Packer of Leicester, England in 1925 and fully patented by 1927. Includes handpainted masonite exhibition label and unsigned and undated handwritten note. Note reads, "Original model of wicket covers introduced / 1926. / Invented and patented by / Mr SC Packer. Leicester / and throughout the / counties. / With photograph of the entire cover / (whole wicket) in action on the Leicester / County ground Sat May 1st 1926. First time / used in an Australian match when it rained / all day. No play. Shewing (sic.) hose pipes / carrying away rain water etc etc".
