Brief Description
An oval shaped patch box and case: patch box featuring enamelled illustrations of the first Lord's cricket ground and two previous members' pavilions, on the outside of the lid and, around the outside of the base, respectively. The inside of the lid features the inscription: TO COMMEMORATE/THE BICENTENARY OF THE/MARYLEBONE CRICKET CLUB/1787-1987. The inside of the base features a silhouette head and chest side profile image of Thomas Lord, with the text below: MR. THOMAS LORD/WHO OPENED HIS FIRST GROUND/IN DORSET FIELDS IN 1787. The match on the lid is the Grand Jubilee Match played on Monday 10 July 1937 between North and South of England at Lord's.
