Brief Description
Silver trophy, two parts, attached to a circular wooden base. Inscription on obverse reads, "V.C.A. CHALLENGE CUP". Trophy features engraving of a batsman. Inscription on reverse reads, "PRESENTED / By / John Cleeland Esq. / To / BEST CRICKET CLUB. / SEASON 1881&2. / WON BY / THE / Melbourne Cricket Club". Detachable top features stylised figure of batsman at wicket.
