Object Detail

Brief Description
A group of letters addressed to Australian champion and Olympic runner, Raelene Boyle, after her disqualification in the 200m semi-final, at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. The letters are from the Grade 4 students of Our Lady's School, in Sunshine, Victoria. Boyle was disqualified from the race for making two false starts. Unfortunately, a video replay later showed that she had not false started on her first start. However, Boyle did receive the honour in these Games of acting as the flag bearer for the Australian team, the first woman to do so.
