Brief Description
Large conical-shaped electro-plated nickel silver trophy cup with decorative rim band and horn-shaped handles either side extending to identical decorative band at the top of the tiered foot. Trophy has separate lid and base. Inscription engraved on front reads, "VICTORIAN RIFLE CLUBS / STATE / CHAMPION TEAM / DONATED BY / SOUTH BENDIGO RIFLE CLUB / TO BE WON TWICE". Hallmarked on bottom, "PHOENIX PLATE / EPNS / MADE IN AUSTRALIA", with emblem of a phoenix rising. Base is an ebonised, circular, tiered wood base for trophy. Has become detached from the trophy. Metal concave disc screwed loosely onto top; thick white plastic / paper stuck to base beneath. Lid: Simple, two-tiered, highly polished electro-plated nickel silver cover/lid for trophy. Has an acorn-type knob on top which is screwed on.
