Brief Description
Hand-coloured engraving with a profile view of a batsman. The figure wears trousers, shirt, neck tie and top hat, and has long sideburns. He is taking stance in front of a set of stumps, with his left leg outstretched and his body leaning back. In the background is a tent with a flag, trees behind it, and a church tower with spire beyond. The print is coloured in some areas. The name of the draughtsman is in the lower-left, and printed beneath the image is the title, "THE BATTER". Writing on reverse reads "2" and "37".
