Object Detail

Brief Description
Nineteenth-century print of a humorous scene from a cricket match. In the foreground are two cricketers - an overweight batsman and a wicket keeper. The keeper is taking the bails off the stumps with a ball, and the caption below the image reads "Out! / So don't fatigue yourself, I beg sir?" Beyond the two main figures are two fielders, and in the background is a marquee with two groups of spectators. The shadow of printed text on the reverse of this sheet shows that the print was once bound as part of a book.
