Brief Description
This envelope commemorates Australia's victory in the Ashes series of 1989. Off white commemorative envelope, the front printed on the left side with a coloured image of a set of wickets, overprinted with text, reading in part, "In Affectionate Remembrance / of / ENGLISH CRICKET / which died at the Old Trafford / on / 1st August 1989". The inscription below reads AUSTRALIAN / ASHES VICTORY 1989. A coloured stamp is adhered to the upper right corner, with a post mark stamped in black ink below, dated 30 August 1989. The envelope bears the handwritten address, in blue ink, "Melbourne / Cricket Grounds / Museum". A brief description of the Ashes Victory is printed in the lower right corner on the reverse.
