Brief Description
Oil painting of a cricketer wearing whites and carrying a bat, with trees and an English policeman in the background. The canvas is signed in the lower right, L.A. WILCOX, and the plaque on the frame reads, "SIR DONALD BRADMAN / LESLIE A. WILCOX R.I.". Surrounded by gold painted frame, and on the reverse of frame the handwritten printing reads, in part, "ANTHONY BAER COLLECTION - I COMMISSIONED IN 1964".

I am curious as to why there is a London bobby in the background of the Bradman painting. Is the painter trying to locate the scene to England, or is there another message? The curator of the MCC collection was unable to shed any light.
