Brief Description
Black and white photograph of oil on canvas by Jack Pieters featuring cricket match Old Wanderers Ground, Johannesburg, South Africa. Test matches were played here from circa 1900. Depicts players dressed in whites and caps watched by crowds of spectators. Tall city buildings are a backdrop to the fenced ground. Two high roofed grandstands are central with a low roofed pavilion on the right. A number of flags are flown from the roof with tall trees in the foreground. Writing on reverse reads "MCC304"and "1C". It also includes "Marylebone Cricket Club" stamp on back.
