Brief Description
Photographic reproduction of an eighteenth-century watercolour showing a ladies' cricket match. Twelve women are in the picture, all wearing hats and long dresses. One is batting using a paddle-shaped bat, another bowling with an underarm action. Below the picture is an inscription which reads "CRICKET MATCH / PLAYED BY THE COUNTESS OF DERBY AND OTHER LADIES / 1779". The original belongs to the Marylebone Cricket Club, whose stamp is on the back. Writing on reverse reads "MCC413"and "3G". It also includes "Marylebone Cricket Club" stamp.
