Brief Description
Double page spread from the Illustrated Sydney News and New South Wales Agriculturalist and Grazier magazine, with a hand-coloured engraving of the Intercolonial cricket match between New South Wales and Victoria, played in March 1875. The print gives a side-on view of the wicket, showing a passage of play where the batsmen are taking a run. Beyond the pitch is a weatherboard pavilion with three flags flying from it. The spectators are prominent in the composition, particularly in the foreground where men in suits and bowler hats, and women in voluminous dresses are mingling. The title of the publication is printed above the engraving, and a caption below reads "INTERCOLONIAL CRICKET MATCH - NEW SOUTH WALES V. VICTORIA, ON THE ALBERT GROUND, SYDNEY - MARCH, 1875". Unrelated articles are printed on the reverse, and the item is housed in a modern window mount.
