Brief Description
Sepia photograph of the 1886-87 England cricket team on tour in Australia. The picture is a formal group portrait, with 13 men arranged into three rows, all except one wearing cricket whites, striped blazers and short neck ties. The picture has been taken indoors, with a painted backdrop behind the figures. The photo is attached to its original card mount, with the title "SHAW, LILLYWHITE & SHREWSBURY'S TEAM / OF ENGLISH CRICKETERS / 1886 &1887", decoratively painted in blue, red and black. The players are identified by hand-written inscriptions below the image.
Inscription below the players names reads "Test played 2. Won 2."
